Neurodiverse Couples Counseling

Understanding and Supporting Neurodiverse Relationships
Inclusive and Affirming Support

Are you part of a couple navigating the unique dynamics of a neurodiverse relationship? Whether one or both partners are on the autism spectrum, have ADHD, AuDHD, or identify with another neurodivergence, your relationship may experience strengths—and challenges—that differ from neurotypical pairings.

I offer specialized neurodiverse couples counseling to help partners build a strong communication skill set, increase connection, and navigate differences with greater understanding and empathy.

What Is a Neurodiverse Couple?

A neurodiverse couple typically includes one neurodivergent partner (e.g., autism, ADHD, AuDHD, sensory processing differences) and one neurotypical partner—but sometimes both partners are neurodivergent. These relationships can be deeply fulfilling but may also experience misunderstandings, disconnects, or recurring conflict due to differing communication styles, social needs, or emotional processing.

How Therapy Can Help Neurodiverse Couples

Therapy offers a supportive space to:

  • Improve communication and reduce patterns of miscommunication
  • Address emotional needs in ways both partners can understand and meet
  • Create shared meaning and develop rituals that support connection
  • Navigate sensory sensitivities or executive functioning challenges
  • Understand neurodiversity and how it impacts relational patterns
  • Strengthen intimacy and rebuild trust where needed

Each session is tailored to your unique relationship, taking into account the individual identities, needs, and strengths of each partner.

Therapy for Individuals in Neurodiverse Relationships

Not all work has to be done as a couple. If you’re a neurodivergent or neurotypical partner looking to explore how your relationship is impacting your emotional health, I also offer individual therapy to help process your experiences, reduce overwhelm, and build skills to better navigate your relationship.

My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based, and rooted in compassion. I draw from therapeutic models that are effective for neurodiverse partnerships.
